A joiner running a building firm

Precision Joinery & Tiling Ltd is based in Blackpool and run by Craig. What started as joinery and tiling now covers full building work, and the joinery standard has come with it.

Who you are dealing with

The name is not marketing

Precision is a word a lot of firms put on a van. For a joiner it means something specific. It is the difference between a mitre you notice and one you do not. Between a door that swings shut on its own weight and one that catches on the frame every February.

Craig has spent his working life on the tools, first in joinery and tiling and then in full building work. Most of our jobs still come through word of mouth on the Fylde, which only works if the last one was right.

What that looks like on site

The person who quotes your job is the person who turns up to do it. There is no sales visit followed by a crew you have never met. Materials get talked through before anything is ordered, floors get covered before anything is carried in, and the site gets swept at the end of every day rather than at the end of the week.

Straight answers

Three things we will not do

Being clear about this up front saves everybody time, including us.

Start a job we cannot finish properly

If a job needs a trade or a certification we cannot cover, we will tell you at the quote stage and point you at somebody who can. It is a shorter conversation than the one three weeks in.

Quote a price we cannot hold

Our quotes are itemised and fixed against an agreed spec. If you change the spec, we reprice it in writing before the work happens, so nothing lands on the final invoice as a surprise.

Disappear for a bigger job

We take on what we can actually staff. Once you have a start date, the crew stays on your job until it is finished rather than getting pulled onto whatever came in last week.

How we grew

From doors and floors to full builds

Plenty of firms go the other way, starting as builders and subcontracting the finishing work out. We came up through the finishing work, which is why the joinery on our extensions and loft conversions is done in house rather than handed to whoever is free.

It also means the details that usually get rushed at the end of a build get the same attention as the structure. The skirting mitres in a new extension are cut by the same person who cut the roof.

Small team, deliberately

We are not trying to run six jobs at once. A smaller book of work is the only way the same faces stay on your job from the first day to the last, and that is the bit customers keep mentioning in reviews.

What customers actually said

Cannot rate Craig enough. He has done an amazing job of tiling my bathroom floor after another plumber botched the job of fitting the bathroom. Highly recommend Craig and really looking forward to having him back to do some more jobs in my house. Really nice guy and fantastic work.

Craig has recently hung some oak doors for us. We were really delighted with the workmanship and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.

I phoned Craig desperately wanting some help with fitting my bathroom. He was very quick to respond, gave me a quote within a couple of days and was most helpful with picking the best boards and flooring. He is very genuine, honest and always puts 100 per cent into his work.
